Garmin is set to release its latest high tech golf watch this July. The Garmin Approach S6 is an advanced model with new functionalities previously not available on earlier versions. These include a color touch screen and swing metrics. These two upgrades make this watch a great companion on the golf course, helping you improve your game and keep track of your progress. The Approach S6 has several additional features as outlined below.

Features

Color Touch screen

The will be a welcome feature for many golfers, who struggled with the buttons on previous models. The screen displays full color maps of over 38,000 golf courses worldwide. This makes it more pleasant to view course terrain variations and hazards. The touch functionality will make it easier to navigate through the menu, and make faster selections, so you spend more time playing.

Swing Metrics

This is an advanced feature that makes the Garmin Approach S6 more than just a GPS location finder. It utilizes accelerometers and advanced motion sensors to measure several aspects of your swing such as club speed and power of the ball strike. Additionally it calculates your upswing and downswing ratio. These will help identify weak points in your swing and track your improvement.

Detailed maps and GPS positioning

The Garmin Approach S6 combines GPS technology with detailed maps to help you find your way around the course, navigate hazards, identify doglegs, and point you in the right direction for your swing using the Pin Pointer. This is important when playing a blind shot or when on an unfamiliar course. You can also have precise distances to the front, center and back of the green. The watch functions as a normal GPS locator, making it useful off the course as well.

Course information

The Garmin Approach S6 comes preloaded with over 38,000 courses. The course information is also updated for free when available. This will save you subscription fees or extra costs when an updated is required.

Keep a score card

This is a quintessential feature of any good golf watch. It allows you to keep a scorecard and has several scoring options including handicaps. An extra feature is the ability to keep measures of your shot distances, helping you improve your swing power and better club selection. All this data can be shared, downloaded, saved or printed. You may then compare your scores and track your progress on every course you play.

Other Features

This golf watch keeps a record of distances walked and time taken to play, helping you keep track of your fitness. Other important features include:

· Bluetooth connectivity to your smart phone or tablet, so you can view texts or check email without taking out your device.

· A much longer battery life of up to 10 hours and 20 weeks when off GPS mode.

· Access to Garmin Connect Golf, an online resource for golfers.

Reasonable piece of equipment. But difficult to press the correct button to get the specific distance to that point because of the small screen size.
